HOW I STYLE MY FOR KOILS EMPRESS WIG

Slack for iOS Upload-14

It is that beautiful time of year again when the leaves are falling and a crisp breeze greets us each morning as a reminder to bundle up. With the welcome of the season change, many of us naturals are searching for the perfect protective styling options to get us through the upcoming cold months. My personal fave is my For Koils Empress wig! It is my go-to accessory that allows me to switch up my style instantly and play with different looks all while protecting my hair underneath.

Here are a few of my favorite styles using my For Koils Empress Wig:

Straight & Sleek

It’s rare to see me with straight hair because I am so fearful of using too much heat on my own hair after my last heat damage fiasco (resulted in me sporting a TWA – yikes!). I have fine, 3b/3c type hair that is very fragile and sensitive. So it’s a blast (and a relief!) to play with straight styles on my wig unit instead of my own hair. To achieve this look I spritzed my wig with Moroccan Oil Heat Styling Protection Spray before blow drying the hair section by section. Once the hair was fully blown out, I straightened the unit with a flat iron and a hard bristle brush. The hard bristle brush helped to keep the hair taut while guiding the flat iron over the hair. To smooth down any fly-aways and moisturize the ends, I applied a small amount of L’Oreal Sleek It Frizz Vanisher Cream.

Loose Body Waves

To extend the life of my straight look, but add soft texture without more heat use, I am a huge fan of flexi rods. I love flexi rods on dry hair which creates a soft, looser curl/wave and I love them on wet hair as well which will give a more defined and structured curl. When I used the flexi rods on my straightened For Koils Empress wig, the result was voluminous waves with plenty of bounce and shine! To achieve this look, I used about 15 of the gray, 11/16” flexi rods.

Bouncy Spiral Curls

These bouncy spiral curls were achieved by doing a perm rod set on wet hair. I used LottaBody Wrap Me Foaming Mousse to set the style and the jumbo ¾” orange perm rods. When I removed the perm rods, the curls were a bit too defined and perfect for my liking so I carefully unraveled and separated each curl until I had the volume I desired.
